As I deepen my own self-discovery, it has become clear how much I value being seen and heard by others, and to reciprocate that in a safe space. The more I voice my struggles, the more I realize that I’m not alone. I think we’re all connected by the journey towards our truest selves, sharing our stories and finding room to grow, to love, and to be.
I’m glad that this song, originally written for #MeTooMpls, is out in the world taking up some space. Sending love. I miss you. The post-covid hugs will be a thing. 🖤
lyrics
“I Know That Sound”
Pounding in your chest
Invisible bulletproof vest
All the worries in your heart
The maybe mistakes you’ve started making
Outweigh having something to say
You think your words get in the way
I know that sound is eggshells cracking
I know that sound, it’s eggshells cracking
When the dust settles in
and minutes after they walk in
Inside your alarm bells go off
and all you can do is talk about the
old days to muffle your heart breaking
You can try and explain away
But I know that sound is eggshells cracking
I know that sound, it’s eggshells cracking
I know that sound is eggshells cracking
I know that sound, oh that sound
I know that sound, is eggshells cracking
I know that sound
