For Singer-Songwriter Annie Fitzgerald, the meaning of “Under the Moon” has grown over the past year.
“I wrote it just before lockdown. It was inspired by a group of friends who would meet under the New and Full Moon’s to hold space for one another. This practice has become an important part of my life and my healing. It has also reminded me that this life is magic.
Now when I listen, I remember how fortunate I am to have such a web of beautiful people in my life. Missing family and friends is a feeling that we all understand in a deep way after the past year. What a gift it is to have people to grow alongside and to witness. What a gift it will be to all gather together again.
Playing this song grounds me. It reminds me how important presence & connection are; to each other, to spirit, to the moon, to our rituals, to our ancestors, to how we pray and how we heal.”
lyrics
Just like one and one makes two
It’s me and you, under the moon
Your hand steadies me
As my intentions are burning
When the souls come out tonight to show us
How the stars lead me back to you
I will close my eyes and paint a picture in my mind
This moment is all there is
This moment is all there is
This moment is all there is
Feet grounded to the earth
Prairie sweetgrass, and the bark of birch
You show me how to hold my pain
We watch it dissolve till only love remains
When the souls come out tonight to show us
How the stars lead me right to you
I will close my eyes and paint a picture in my mind
This moment is all there is
This moment is all there is
This moment is all there is
